[0:06] A common question we get asked is: What’s the failure rate at RNT Fitness? Why do people fail at RNT? And sometimes people are really asking more broadly — why do people fail at weight-loss programs in general?
[0:20] We talk a lot about our success stories. We’ve got hundreds of Hall of Fame episodes on RNT Fitness Radio, lots of pictures and videos on the website — we’re not afraid to show success. But people still rightly ask: What about the failures? Why do people fail? What’s the success rate?
[1:14] No program has a 100% success rate — that’s just human nature. Over the years I’ve looked at why people fail, and it comes down to five Cs. Interestingly, they all start with C — and they also explain why people succeed.
Commitment
[1:38] Commitment isn’t about clichés like “you don’t want it badly enough.” It’s about genuinely committing to the program — and to yourself. A transformation journey isn’t easy. You need honesty and clarity.
[2:05] First, be honest about why you want to do this — not a surface-level answer, but the real reason.
[2:21] When your why is genuine, and you also know who you want to become in the next 12 months, your commitment becomes much stronger. The most successful members keep their why visible and stay deeply connected to it.
Consistency
[4:46] The second C is consistency — specifically, leaning in when life gets in the way. Life will always bring stress, travel, family events, grief, celebrations… you name it.
[5:17] In those moments, you either lean into the process and accountability — or you run from it. When people pull away, they lose consistency, engagement, and momentum.
[5:56] You don’t have to give up your life to succeed — you just need to stay all-in on the process, especially when things get hard.
Coachability
[6:18] The third C is coachability — staying open-minded, taking feedback, and leaving ego at the door.
[6:34] Many of the people we work with are very successful in other areas of life — careers, business — but this is the one area they haven’t cracked yet.
[6:47] Those who succeed are the ones who embrace guidance instead of resisting change.
Communication
[7:10] The fourth C is communication — and this is a big one, especially online.
[7:23] If you’re not communicating, it becomes impossible for us to help you. Almost every failure we see ultimately traces back to a lack of communication.
[7:45] Even if life gets messy, if you keep checking in and communicating honestly, you will get to your goal — even if progress slows at times.
[8:39] RNT is a judgment-free space. When you’re honest about your struggles, we can help solve the real problems — not just the surface-level ones.
Change (Willingness to Change)
[12:09] The fifth C is change — or rather, a lack of willingness to truly change.
[12:28] At the start, transformation feels exciting — new year, new motivation — but a few weeks later reality sets in. The question becomes: Do I actually want to change my lifestyle, or do I want to stay comfortable where I am?
[13:44] Without real change, people experience “death by a thousand cuts” — slowly drifting back to old habits.
Success vs Failure
[14:31] So instead of asking What’s the failure rate? the real question is:
Why do some people fail — and why do others succeed?
Why do some people fail — and why do others succeed?
Those who succeed are:
- committed
- consistent (especially when life gets hard)
- coachable
- communicative
- and truly willing to change
These are the people who use physical transformation as a vehicle to change their lives.
